Master Classes ~ Subjects include Afro-Caribbean and Latin Jazz piano, Rhythm Section, Hand Drums & Percussion
Clinics ~ Clinics are designed to demonstrate a wide variety of Latin rhythms and techniques. Clinics may include members of Rebeca's ensemble, and include an open forum for Q&A.
Lecture-Demonstrations ~ As the term implies, Rebeca begins with an exploration of a specific topic or theme, such as the history and development of Afro-Cuban music, the parallel relationship between Jazz and Latin music in the United States, a survey of some of Latin America's most popular rhythms, or the connections between Latin rhythms and dances. Demonstrations of styles are given via recordings, video, live performance, etc... Audience members or members of Rebeca's ensemble may participate in some cases.
Instrumental Workshops ~ These hands-on classes are for players of all levels who wish to learn or develop their knowledge of Latin music performance. All students, regardless of instrument, will learn basic percussion rhythms as a precursor to understanding the intricacies of Latin music. Materials used in these workshops include excerpts from Rebeca's publications (The Salsa Guidebook, 101 Montunos, etc..), to full-scale arrangements.
Ensemble Workshops ~ Rebeca works with ensembles of various sizes and instrumentations as well as levels, focusing on playing Latin and Latin Jazz music, including techniques for improving general ensemble-playing skills through collective improvisation. Latin and Latin Jazz standards and arrangements for a variety of formats are used, and Rebeca also offers to coach ensembles on their own repertoire.
